Wind forecast guide →MADE FOR THE ADRIATIC
Wind alone does not describe a day on the water. Desta brings wind, gusts and available marine information together, with a Boating Window summary that helps you read the forecast's main factors.

The Boating Window groups conditions into broad bands and adds a short explanation. Its simple score uses wind speed, gusts and wave height when available, with an additional adjustment for Bura. Read the underlying values and the explanation together.
The summary is not a personalized assessment of your boat, crew or route. Missing wave data does not mean calm water, and wind-only forecast rows do not include waves. A favourable band is not a safety clearance or a recommendation to depart.
Desta includes marine views and tide times and heights where available. Source coverage varies. When the app uses a tide estimate, it labels that estimate. Check the data status and official local information before relying on it for planning.
1. Select the relevant place and forecast time.
2. Read wind, gusts and direction together.
3. Review available marine data and any gaps or estimates.
4. Check current official marine forecasts and warnings.
5. Reassess against your actual vessel, crew, route and conditions.
This is a way to organize information, not a complete departure or safety checklist.
It summarizes wind speed, gusts and available wave height using a simple scoring model, with an additional Bura adjustment. It does not model every condition relevant to a passage.
The current summary is not a personalized vessel-and-crew safety assessment. Do not treat its band as permission to depart.
The score does not include a wave penalty when wave data is unavailable. That absence must not be interpreted as calm seas.
Availability varies. Desta can display an explicitly labelled estimate when source data is unavailable; check the app's data status and official local information.
No. It is a planning and information tool and must not be relied on for navigation or safety-of-life decisions.
